Australia - East 1


We received our rental car in Sydney and left for Katoomba. Soon we had the city behind us and the area quickly became rural. In the "blue mountains" we were impressed by the formation of the 3 sisters. Katoomba was also the place where we spent the night at Motel Best Western Alpine Motor Inn.


The next morning we continued towards the Hunter Valley, through beautiful landscapes and idyllic vineyards. The Hunter Valley Resort in Pokolbin was our destination today. In the local wine cellar we learned a lot about the wine and also tried a lot.

 

The next morning we were picked up by a small group. We visited 5 vineyards and 1 brewery, what a treat!


In the early morning we drove on, back to the coast to Port Stephens and stayed at the guesthouse Bali at the Bay. The rest of the day was spent walking and spending a few hours on the beach. Here in Port Stephens we were also able to experience a spectacular sunset.

 

Today's leg leads us to Port Macquarie with the beautiful lighthouse over to Coffs Harbor. At the lighthouse we could even watch dolphins playing in the water. We stayed at the Ibis Budget Hotel in Coffs Harbor. This place is just ok for one night.

Wir haben unseren Mietwagen in Sydney in Empfang genommen und sind Richtung Katoomba aufgebrochen. Schon bald hatten wir die Stadt hinter uns und die Gegend wurde rasch ländlich. In den „blauen Bergen“ liessen wir uns von der Formation der 3 Schwestern beeindrucken. Katoomba war auch der Ort, wo wir die Nacht im Motel Best Western Alpine Motor Inn verbrachten.


Am nächsten Morgen ging es weiter in Richtung Hunter Valley, durch schöne Landschaften und idyllische Weinberge. Das Hunter Valley Resort in Pokolbin war unser heutiges Ziel. Im dortigen Weinkeller haben wir viel über den Wein gelernt auch viel probiert. Am nächsten Morgen wurden wir von einer kleinen Gruppe abgeholt. Wir besuchten 5 Weinberge und 1 Bierbrauerei, was für ein Hochgenuss !


Am frühen Morgen fuhren wir weiter, wieder an die Küste nach Port Stephens und übernachteten im Gästehaus Bali at the Bay. Den Rest des Tages verbrachten wir mit Spazieren und ein paar Stunden an der Beach. Hier in Port Stephens durften wir auch einen spektakulären Sonnenuntergang erleben.

 

Unsere heutige Etappe führt und an Port Macquarie mit dem schönen Leuchtturm vorbei nach Coffs Harbour. Beim Leuchtturm konnten wir sogar spielende Delfine im Wasser beobachten. In Coffs Harbour nächtigten wir dann im Ibis Budget Hotel. Diese Bleibe ist gerade ok für eine Nacht.
